Depicting at a wide range of subject matters, from cityscapes, to brutally injured bodies Hollis' paintings bring to mind newspaper reportage imagery,. In other paintings Hollis' depiction of people seem reminiscent of old photographs. The allusion to other forms of imagery positions painting within a larger world of imagery and questions its positions within this.
