Masaki Yada graduated from Central St Martins BA in 2006 and Chelsea St Martins MA in 2008.
The symbol of the skull recurs throughout Masaki Yada's paintings, a symbol of death throughout art history, its use in Yada's paintings arrouses associations of human mortality with stark and shocking brutality. Taking influence from 17th Century Dutch still life painting, Yada’s work reinterprets and contemporises traditional still life and Momenti Mori adding references of contemporary life into his paintings. in Yada's images which are dark and arresting, challenging and provocative, Yada combines portraiture and still life to uggest a dark portrait of our times.
