The Influence of Photography in Painting

02 June to 10 July 2009
A group exhibition of international painters whose work works suggests a relationship to the photographic medium.

Whilst tracing an influence of photography in their work, the works by these paintings remain inherently painterly, displaying a confident application of paint and bold brushstrokes. Nonetheless each of the artists in the exhibition engages with photography; whether by taking their source material from photographs, painting in a semi-photo realist way or creating images evocative of over-exposed or blurred photographs.

The exhibition continues in ROLLO Contemporary Art’s exhibition programme of holding thematic group shows to suggest themes in current art practice.

The exhibition brings together artists whose paintings show incredible technique whilst placing painting within a larger context of images.
